Community Involvement

As a team we fundraise for the charity “Hope 4 Help”, http://hope4help.ca/h4h/, which is a not for profit organization started by Amy and Kristy Hawke of Toronto, Canada, with the assistance of Karen Hutchinson of Manchester, England. Their aim is to educate, inspire and create a solid foundation for the Baharini school in Kenya to grow on, by providing the same opportunities to the children of Baharini that are so readily available to our own children here in Canada. The foundation has three key initiatives. 1-The building of Baharini primary school as a foundation to educate the children of Kenya, Africa in a safe and positive environment. 2-The support of the Food Nourishment Program providing daily meals and the means to be self-sufficient in cultivating their own food. 3-To create a vocational training outlet for older students providing opportunity for growth within their own community. Approximately over 60 desks, and 6 permanent blackboards have been built through donations. Textbooks, stationeries, examinations, teaching aides and cooking supplies have been purchased through donations on a regular basis. As well, many clothing and sports equipment donations have benefited the children, and have shown us many smiles. Also supported is the The Hope 4 Help Food Programme. What started as 4 children gathered around to share 1 bowl of rice and beans, has now evolved to each child receiving THEIR OWN bowl of rice and beans. Still for many, this is the only meal they receive that day, and we will not give up OUR OWN HOPE that they will see 3 meals a day…breakfast is in the works
